Andy Strauss

Meet Andy Strauss:

Andy moved to Asheville in 1991 to purchase a disposable medical manufacturer, which was later sold. He met his wife Holly, a native of Asheville, and after-sale of his Company settled down in Biltmore Forest across the street from his wife’s parents. Andy opened his estate planning practice in 1994 focusing primarily on living trust planning, which at that time was a new concept, and family limited partnerships for estate tax planning and asset protection.  The estate tax exemption for transfer to non-spouses was $600,000 back then, so many middle-class folks had taxable estates. Talk about inflation!

Andy’s practice grew to now having 11 estate planning and business attorneys with offices in Raleigh, Hendersonville, Asheville and Landrum, SC dealing with everything from Medicaid eligibility issues to charitable remainder and lead trusts. Andy is licensed in NC and Florida and is a NC Bar board certified specialist in estate planning and probate law. He is going to talk to us tonight about basic estate planning concepts and will be available to answer questions pertinent to real estate investors and business issues. By the way, Andy has a self-directed IRA that has invested in a variety of real estate investments from apartment buildings in Brooklyn to a new construction high rise in Fort Lauderdale.
